Released in 1970, this was a high-profile "budget" sampler designed to showcase the diverse roster of the Probe label, which was the UK outlet for the American ABC/Dunhill label. In the early 70s, these samplers were a primary way for fans to discover underground and heavy blues-rock at a fraction of the cost of a full LP.
Additional Features: The album is a "who's who" of 1970 rock and soul, featuring The James Gang (with Joe Walsh), B.B. King, The Mamas & The Papas, Three Dog Night, and Smith. The cover art is one of the most recognizable of the era, featuring a high-definition macro photograph of a Grammostola tarantula resting on a leaf, perfectly matching the "Handle With Care" title.
Condition
Vinyl: Graded VG+ to EX. The vinyl exhibits a strong original luster. While samplers were often played heavily at parties, this copy shows very light spindle wear on the labels, suggesting it was part of a careful listener's library.
Cover: Pictured with sticker 3/69 on the protective poly-sleeve. The sleeve is in remarkably good condition for a 50-year-old budget release; there is a vintage red "SALE PRICE" sticker on the top right, which adds to its historical character. The spine is intact with only minor "thumbnail" creasing along the edges.
