This 1974 self-titled debut is the first solo effort from British blue-eyed soul singer Jess Roden, released following his work with the Alan Bown Set and Bronco. Recorded at Island Studios, the album was co-produced by New Orleans legend Allen Toussaint and features musical contributions from members of The Meters and the Neville Brothers. The music is a fusion of funky rock and soul, often compared to the style of Robert Palmer or Little Feat. Standout tracks include "Reason To Change" and a soulful cover of "On Broadway".
