Skywriter is the eighth studio album by The Jackson 5, released in 1973 on Tamla Motown.
The album reflects the group’s early‑1970s transition away from bubblegum pop toward a more mature soul and funk‑oriented sound, with increased involvement from the group members themselves. Several tracks highlight Michael Jackson’s developing vocal depth during this period.
Key tracks include Skywriter, Hallelujah Day, The Boogie Man, and Corner of the Sky. The album was executive produced by Berry Gordy and features writing contributions from Motown regulars alongside outside composers.
The aviation‑themed sleeve photography is unique to this period and remains one of the group’s more distinctive cover designs.
