No Strings is the second studio album by Ace, released in 1977 on Anchor Records. Following the international success of their debut Five‑A‑Side, the album continues Ace’s blend of soft rock, pop rock, and melodic AOR, with polished songwriting and strong harmonies.
The record showcases the band’s refined, radio‑friendly sound, led by bassist and vocalist Paul Carrack, whose soulful voice would later bring success with Squeeze and Mike + The Mechanics. While No Strings did not match the commercial impact of the debut, it is well regarded for its consistency and mature songwriting.
Notable tracks include How Long, Gleaming in the Gloom, Why Did You Leave Me, Let’s Hang On, Found Out the Hard Way, and C’est La Vie. Production was handled by Trevor Lawrence, giving the album a smooth late‑1970s studio finish.
